Last day of the year

Wow last Enrich day of the year  where did the year go . Today I played Nathan W at chess and got a stale mate. I tried to take his rook but he tricked me into losing my Queen and finished 15 th on the leader board . We also played All or Nothing. At one point it was a three way tie in the end Darryn's team won 21 - 19 -19 . My year has been magnificent my favourite part was learning the meaning of what being gifted really means. This is my last post of the year.

Animal rights

 Today at Enrich I did the Animals rights P4C must do with Katie. First we wrote down what rights us humans have in our life and then we wrote down what rights do animals have. I came up with T.L.C, food, water and to be treated fairly. Katie read a short story on a an abused dog whose owner made him jump through a hoop which he set on fire. He also didn't feed him for two days . Then we watched two short clips from the movie Babe . Heres a question . Do you think animals have rights ?

Today

Today at Enrich we did the thinkers keys. Darryn did the brainstorming key, Katie did the ridiculous key, and Alana did the variation key. We had to think of what would suit the topic. We also played hula hoop amoeba - its easy in a hard way. You get in to groups of three - it was fun!

Week 5 at Enrich

Hola. Today at Enrich I played Othlleo. You have to place double sided counters in a slot and flip some as you I won one 56 -7  and lost the other 7-3. We also played a game Two Orange, Two Green. You have to have each bean bag in a colour sequence and a ball before you can sit down. It was fun. Then I  did something on Hurricane Sandy - we used six thinking hats to talk about it. Then we did scamper with Alana - We did the Warehouse.

Waihopai planting day

Another exciting day at Enrich! Today at Enrich we went to the Waihopai River to plant flax and ToiToi. These plants hold back the mud and keep it away from the river. We planted 250 plants  in 2 hours. These plants were planted in a small hole with some felt around them and sticks  to hold a plastic guard around them to protect them from rabbits pukekos and other pests .

Week 2 Term 4

Howdy

Today at Enrich we started the day with a game of "all or nothing" Its like bullseye but you take all or nothing! We also played chess I won one of my games and lost one. Today I did Afective Domain we talked about Adora Svitaki and  we watched a video on her . She talked about a variaty of things one of them was that  you don't let your age hold you back and kids have great ideas (sometimes!) Last of all we designed a garden it was a pick  from the must do's and picks.

Last term of the year, where did the year go? Today we played chess I won but didn't move up . We also played a game called all or nothing it is like a game called bullseye except you have a basket and one been bag . We also had a visit from the C.E.O at the Airport and the Airport group shared their presentation with her . Her name was Chloe Scala .

Last day of term three

Hello

Today was a great day. First we played chess I played Nathan W. He beat me but I almost won. For passion time Hyrum and I made a game on the Macbooks. We made ping pong. Hyrum has finished his and I'm still working on mine. Hopefully I can show you next term. We also did some P4C with Darryn. We talked about: Is it all right for us to pollute? Next time you buy something wrapped in plastic please recycle it. Keep earth clean - it's the only planet we can live on.

Week 9 Term 3

Hello

Enrich was interesting today because we looked at the ten most polluted cities and countries in the world then we looked at the purest / cleanest cities in the world and Ahvaz ,Iran is the most polluted city in the world and the most polluted country is China . The cleanest city in the world is NZ's capital Wellington NZ is also the 6th cleanest country in the world the cleanest is Finland . We also played chess this week and I bet Katie for the second time in a row .

This week

Hello

Today was great. First we played chess I won two of my three games then we played Bullseye again we did some of our environment projects. I made my pages for our fliers. We also watched a video on water pollution. It was disgusting and sad. I learnt that there is a huge lake in Russia called lake Baikal and it is all fresh water. Hola 

Today was great, we finished our session on Physics. Everyone's egg survived, some had dints or cracks. Ours  had a huge dent in it. We also played a game called bulls eye. What I had to do was a little bit tricky because we had to try get four bean bags  into four hoops and they rolled heaps. My team  (no2)  got third equal with team no3. We both got seven points. We also did some of our environment projects .

Week 6 at Enrich

Hello

Well today was an unusual day at Enrich because we went to Physics with Katie and we made parachutes for eggs. All the eggs survived. But two were broken by accident -  my partner Josh and Madison accidentally dropped eggs on the carpet!! We also played Pegasaurus again - my team won. Then I went to P4C. Last week we did Green Eggs and Ham - we discussed whether or not you can have an opinion or an idea about something you haven't tried.  This week we did The Zax by Dr Seuss with Alana.  The question today was whether or not it's a good idea to compromise.  Also, is it a good idea to keep your pride?

Biology

Today at Enrich I did biology and we used a Dinoscope. It's like an electronic magnifying glass. We looked at some flies - it was gross! Yuck! 2 weeks ago we made shuttle cock launchers and the winner was my group so we won the chocolate. Also there was a terrible natural disaster in New Zealand at 11 o'clock last night - a volcano erupted with no warning! We looked at a photo and a white car was covered in ash. The council told everyone in Tauranga and as far away as Napier not to go outside .

2nd Week Term Three

Today at Enrich we did a technology challenge and it was very difficult. We had to make a shuttlecock launcher out of sticks, ice cream sticks, rubber bands, tape, string, a cup and a shuttlecock. We had twenty minutes and the prize was chocolate!  We are going to judge them at the end of the day - I will let you know next week who won! Also, we had a visit from an environmentalist. She came to tell us about the Waihopai river and Seaward Bush - she was very interesting.

First day back !

Hi everyone ! Wow its term 3 already ! Today at enrich we had taster sessions today which is when the teacher gives the class three choices which are activities and are lead by a teacher I chose science and we made elephant tooth paste it is sort of like foam but toxic. This is what we used : gloves for hand protection , hydrogen peroxide  be careful its toxic , hot water , tea spoon ,table spoon ,  2 beckers and yeast . First we got a beckers and filled it to half way with hydrogen peroxide next we got the second becker and put in a tea spoon of yeast and two table spoons of hot water then we mixed them together and foam poured out from the top also we found out what our concept curriculum was and it was environment and there are lots of environments .

Wearable Arts

Hello.  Today at Enrich we went to the Invercargill Museum to see the display of Wearable Arts.  There were heaps of crazy designs like:  a dress made of copper, budgie bras, and an outfit made out of suitcases!  The one I liked the most was the monarch butterfly dress in the white-light room.  That room was really dark, but it had special ultra-violet lights to make anything white, or bright, stand out even more.  It was good to leave the classroom to do something different!

Last day Term 1

Happy Easter Everyone!

Today at Enrich, it was the best day this term. We played Dodge-ball. My team won twice! After that we did a learning wheel which is a reflection tool to look back on the term. It looks like this. 

Hi Kyle.

You made the most of your first session on photography today.  Your enthusiasm to get outside to have a go at taking photos using the angles and techniques I had shown you was clear to see!  You listen well to instructions, and once your are engaged in a task, you don’t stop until the task is completed.  It’s great to see you making regular updates on your blog - your comments are detailed and definately pin-point the highlight of your day here at Enrich.  Katie.

Today at Enrich we learnt how to use a camera properly and how to take photos using different angles.   My favourite type of photo is using the macro function. It allows you to take a super close up photo. Enrich is awesome! The best part is the talent development which is when you get to try new subjects.  Today we picked our talent development groups.  I picked drama, with Darryn. We are going to do a reader's theatre.  We are going to perform The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Chess !

My favourite part of enrich is the new people and the games - especially chess.  It's a great game because you mess with the opponent's head! I'm also learning spanish. Hola means hello or Hi. 

Today we  played a game called blue,red and purple which is when you're blind folded and you have to find your beanbag with a team mate to guide you .
